James L. Jewell MD CMD, FAAFP earned his medical degree at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He completed his residency in family medicine at FAHEC, a Duke University Family Practice affiliated residency program in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In practice for 35+ years and involved with bariatric weight loss since the 1980s, Dr. Jewell enjoys working with his patients and treats each one like a member of his own family. He understands the importance of weight management and adopting long-term lifestyle modification in order to maintain a healthy body weight to lower the risk of serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke and hypertension. He is also skilled in using laser technology and aesthetic techniques to address issues like stretch marks, hair removal and acne scars. He values the time he gets to spend with those in his care and has a passion for enhancing the quality of their lives.
His hobbies include riding motorcycles with his wife, skeet shooting and working on his farm taking care of chickens and numerous rescue cats.
